EMOsystem: Ein Demonstrationssystem zur Stimmcharakterisierung [DAGA 2007 (Stuttgart)]

Die Klassifikation paralinguistischer Eigenschaften ist ein Forschungsthema, welches in den letzten Jahren immer mehr an Bedeutung gewinnt. Eine Kombination dieses paralinguistischen Kanals mit dem linguistischen Kanal könnte eine signifikante Verbesserung der Erkennungsrate der Spracherkennung oder der Natürlichkeit von synthetisierter Sprache versprechen. Die Detektion des emotionalen Zustands eines Sprechers ist jedoch an sich schon von großem Interesse und wird bereits in Callcentern oder in der Unterhaltungselektronik, aber noch in stark reduziertem Maße eingesetzt.
In der Forschung wird in diesem Bereich jedoch meist mit bestehenden, gut validierten Datenbanken gearbeitet. Es werden dann sowohl sprecherabhängige als auch sprecherunabhängige Klassifikationen durchgeführt. Im sprecherunabhängigen Fall kommt meist die so genannte ''cross-validation'' zum Einsatz.
Wir versuchen allerdings neben der Arbeit mit bekannten Emotionsdatenbanken auch Live-Klassifikationen durchzuführen. Darunter verstehen wir die Analyse und Klassifikation neu aufgenommener Daten von für das System fremden Sprechern. Neben der Detektion des emotionalen Zustands des Sprechers werden auch das Geschlecht und die in der Äußerung verwendete Stimmqualität detektiert. Zur Charakterisierung der Stimme gehört ebenfalls die Ausgabe verschiedener Konturen und Kenngrößen.
Dazu wurde ein System in der Simulationsumgebung MATLAB entwickelt, welches sich über eine graphische Benutzeroberfläche steuern lässt. Hier können z.B. die Trainingsdaten, die Merkmale, die Klassifizierer gewählt oder deren Parameter gesetzt werden. Eine zweite graphische Benutzeroberfläche steht dem Benutzer zur Live-Klassifikation selbst aufgezeichneter Äußerungen zur Verfügung. Die hiermit aufgenommenen Sätze werden gleich geschnitten und mit den eingegebenen Metadaten gelabelt. So lassen sich auch relativ komfortabel neue Datenbanken erzeugen.
In diesem Beitrag möchten wir unser System zur Stimmcharakterisierung vorstellen, auf die Merkmale eingehen und einige mit dem System erarbeitete Ergebnisse zur Live-Klassifikation präsentieren.

Klassifikation von Korrelationsextrema zur Laufzeitdifferenzschätzung bei mehreren Sprachquellen [DAGA 2007 (Stuttgart)]

Die Schätzung der Laufzeitdifferenzen ist eine häufige und wichtige Aufgabe bei Verarbeitung von Sprachsignalen, die mit einem Mikrofon-Array aufgenommen werden. Neben den klassischen Kreuzkorrelationsverfahren werden derzeit verstärkt Methoden zur blinden Schätzung von Raumimpulsantworten verfolgt, die insbesondere in halligeren Umgebungen interessant sind, deren Ansatz jedoch vor einer einzelnen Quelle ausgeht. Die Herausforderung bei Verwendung der klassischen Verfahren zur Laufzeitdifferenzschätzung mehrerer gleichzeitig aktiver Quellen besteht in der daraus resultierenden Mehrdeutigkeit der Korrelationsextrema, welche zu jenen Mehrdeutigkeiten hinzukommt, die durch Schallreflexionen im Raum und durch die Eigenschaften des Sprachsignals hervorgerufen werden.
Das in diesem Beitrag beschriebene Verfahren reduziert die Reflexionsmehrdeutigkeit unter Ausnutzung der Autokorrelierten. Die geschätzten Laufzeitdifferenzen werden dabei in durch Direkt- oder Echopfade verursachte klassifiziert. Besonders kritisch bei einer digitalen Implementierung des Verfahrens ist die begrenzte Auflösungsgenauigkeit einzelner Extrema im Hinblick auf Robustheit bei Überlagerung von Echopfaden weiterer Quellen. Hierzu werden Zuverlässigkeitsmaße eingeführt und abschließend durch experimentelle Beispiele untermauert.

The Numerical Simulation and Measurement of a Schroeder Diffuser [DAGA 2008 (Dresden)]

Number theoretic diffusers have been widely used in architectural acoustics in the design of concert halls and listening rooms in order to improve acoustic diffusion and increase acoustic absorption. This paper studies the diffusive and absorptive performance of a periodic Schroeder diffuser using a range of numerical approaches and compares against measurements. The numerical methods considered to simulate the acoustical diffusion are the Boundary Element Method (BEM), Finite Element Method (FEM) and Finite Difference Method (FDM). The absorption and diffusion combined are simulated using a FDM for the full Navier-Stokes equations.

A new method to describe valve noise [CFA/DAGA 2004 (Strasbourg)]

Commonly valves, especially water taps, are regarded exclusively as fluid-borne sound sources. Based on this assumption, an ISO standard 3822 has been established, which has led to considerable improvements regarding fluid-borne sound emission of valves. However the reduction in fluid-borne sound in part contributed to the finding, that structure-borne sound cannot be neglected a priori. In practice valves like water taps are sources of air-, structure- and fluid-borne sound simultaneously.
Generally measurements of airborne sound power are relatively straightforward and can be conducted using standardized methods. However the procedures are more complicated if structure- and fluid-borne sound power are to be considered, as a means to predict the acoustical performance of valves in-situ.
A current research project, at the Fachhochschule Stuttgart in co-operation with the University of Liverpool, is concerned with the sound emission of valves on a power basis, including fluid- and structure-borne sound. Preliminary results of this research project are presented.

Strukturmechanik des cochleären Stereozilienbündels [DAGA 2008 (Dresden)]

Stereozilien sind dünne, schlanke Strukturen welche sich auf den Haarzellen befinden. Ihr Verhalten ist entscheidend für den Hörvorgang, da hier der mechanoelektrische Transduktionsprozess stattfindet. Sie sind in Bündeln angeordnet deren Geometrie, Form und mechanische Eigenschaften sich stark unterscheiden können. Jedes Einzelstereozilium zeigt im Inneren eine hochkomplexe, jedoch periodische Anordnung von Actinfasern die durch verschiedene Proteine miteinander verbunden sind.
Diese Struktur besitzt Vorzugsrichtungen und zeigt somit die Notwendigkeit der Einführung anisotroper Materialgesetze zur Beschreibung der mechanischen Eigenschaften. Um alle Koeffizienten des Elastizitätstensors zu bestimmen wird die numerische Homogenisierung mit Hilfe der Finiten-Elemente-Methode genutzt. Dabei werden von einem repräsentativen Volumenelement, das alle Informationen bezüglich der Periodizität der Mikrostruktur enthält, die benötigten Größen abgeleitet.
Im Ergebnis kann gezeigt werden, daß Einzelstereozilien durch ein orthotropes Materialgesetz charakterisiert werden können. Weiterhin zeigen sie eine, für biologische Materialien typische, geringe Schubnachgiebigkeit.
Die mit diesem Materialgesetz behafteten Bündelmodelle zeigen eine gute Übereinstimmung mit Messungen die im Tierexperiment (Ratte) durchgeführt worden.

Development of accelerometers with bending elements [DAGA 2002 (Bochum)]

Resent investigations have revealed that one of the most promising approach in development of new acoustic nondestructive diagnostic methods for building constructions and for engineering seismic survey is a combination of approaches based, on the one hand, on principles of nonlinear acoustics, and on the another hand - on principles of formation and spatial-time processing of high-coherent wave fields. This requires for experimental information on parameters of elastic waves. Piezo-accelerometers are the most widely used for measurements of elastic wave parameters. In this paper the basic requirements and principles of designing of high-sensitive piezo-accelerometers for acoustic diagnostics having bending bimorph elements and central cylindrical support are considered. Such a sensors have many advantages by their parameters over accelerometers using other forms of piezo-element deformation (compression - tension, shift), and this is discussed in the paper.

One of the most perspective tendencies of piezoelectric instrument industry, associated with the creating of very high sensitive sensors is based on the use of bimorph and multi-layer plates, which undergo deformations of bending, as a sensitive element. In the VNIIEF it was developed a series of sensors for different applications. The seismo-accelerometers of ''AP'' type and the three-component accelerometer sensor, are described in this paper. They allow one to measure very weak signals (down to 10-6 g) in a wide frequency range (from 0,2 Hz up to 2,5 kHz). Characteristics (sensitivity, dimensions, mass, etc.) of such sensors exceed essentially their analogues, which use other types of deformation of piezo-element, e.g. compression-tension or shift deformation. Due to the high metrological characteristics and reliability these seismo-accelerometers of AP type and the three-component sensor may find applications for multi-channel systems of vibration diagnostics of power-producing and oil and gas transport equipment, for engineering seismo-prospecting and in other areas of science and industry.

Convergency of the iterative process and numerical error in acoustical analysis with the fast multiple boundary element method [DAGA 2002 (Bochum)]

The fast multipole boundary element method (FMBEM), applying the fast multipole algorithm (FMA) to BE analysis with the iterative solution, has a possibility of drastic acceleration and memory saving for large-scale 3D acoustical problems. Although we have already developed the concrete setup for two sets of formulations, i.e. the regular and the hypersingular boundary integral equations, the following characteristics should be clarified with relation to the types of formulation and the nature of problems: (i) convergency of the iterative process, (ii) numerical error in computed results. In this report, we settle inner and outer problems with a rectangular object with changing the acoustical impedance of the surface, and execute numerical calculation with three ways of FMBEM based on the regular, hypersingular and combined formulations, and also with the conventional BEM. An investigation on convergency shows how it depends on the frequency, the damping factor of inner space, and the way of analysis. An error analysis shows that FMBEM gives results almost as accurate as with BEM, and fictitious eigenfrequency difficulty in outer problems is also discussed.

A single broad banded 3D beamforming sound probe [DAGA 2008 (Dresden)]

Traditional beam forming arrays have acoustic limitations regarding low frequency sensitivity, dynamic range and mirror sources. The high number of data channels is often a practical and/or financial problem.
In this paper a 3D sound probe is used that measures the 3D acoustic particle velocity vector and the sound pressure in one single acoustic point. It will be demonstrated that with one single 3D sound probe the aforementioned limitations can be overcome.
With relatively straightforward signal processing techniques, the acoustic data obtained can be transformed in such a way that the 3D probe behaves like a beamforming system.
Such a compact system is broad banded, has a high dynamic range, is not affected by mirror sources.
The theory will be explained and experimental results presented.

Relationship between Transient Sound and Mouth Tone in Flue Organ Pipes [DAGA 2007 (Stuttgart)]

Mouth tone has been investigated to study the transient sound of flue organ pipes. Mouth tone is a sound which is emitted from a pipe when its resonator is filled with an acoustic absorber. The mouth tone sounds like a broad band noise, however, it has also a certain pitch. In its frequency spectrum some peaks are present and the frequency of the largest peak is very close to the frequency of the harmonic which builds up fastest of all the harmonics of the normal pipe sound. This observation could be explained by the fact that the jet driven system around the mouth produces the mouth tone in a much shorter time than the time needed for the excitation of the pipe resonator. On the other hand, the characteristics of the mouth tone have rarely been investigated so far. To clear up the factors through which the frequency characteristics of the mouth tone can be determined, the peak frequencies of the mouth tone were compared to the frequencies of the edge tone which were calculated from the jet velocity using Brown's equation. The change in the 5th mode of the mouth tone was very similar to that in the 3rd mode of edge tone. This suggests that the 5th mode of the mouth tone is caused by the 3rd mode of edge tone. It was also proved that the peak frequencies except for the 1st peak depend on the blowing pressure, i.e. on jet velocity.

Evaluation and prediction of airport noise in Japan [DAGA 2000 (Oldenburg)]

It is a quarter century since the Environment Agency notified Environmental Quality Standard against Aircaft Noise' in Japan.
During the years the Ministry of Transport has made, under the Standard, a lot of environmental measures to alleviate the impact of
aircraft noise around airports, which results in a great improvement in acoustical environment around airports. First, this paper
briefly reviews the Standard and a noise evaluation index WECPNLJ in the Standard. Then, it describes the basic idea of an airport-noise
prediction model JCAB Model, which has been developed by Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, together with
some recent result of examination about the accuracy of noise prediction. Finally, it refers to the relationship between WECPNL and
Lden.
