Dynamic Loudspeaker Stability Assessment for Reliable Free-Field Calibration by Substitution of Sound Level Meters in Ultrasonic Frequency Range (no manuscript)

In the context of occupational safety and health, given the most recent literature on acoustic hazards, there is a serious need for international standards concerning airborne frequencies above 20 kHz. The issues to be standardised include maximum exposure times, as well as measurement techniques and methods. As part of the development of technical tools to support the elaboration of such standards, a second-order calibration method for the lower ultrasonic range (20 kHz to 50 kHz) is currently being developed at the IFA of the DGUV. The substitution method chosen for this purpose is intended for sound level meter calibration in a free sound field. Given that the electro acoustic transducer has been identified as the most potentially unstable element of the measurement chain and a major limiting factor, its characterisation represents a critical step towards reliable calibration. This poster therefore describes the method and results obtained to determine the stability of the spectrum over time of the chosen dynamic loudspeaker.
