Abstract:
In modern architectural practices, aesthetic design plays a critical role in enhancing building performance and occupant well-being. Troldtekt, a manufacturer of acoustic panels since 1935, develops characterful wall and ceiling solutions that contribute significantly to both. Working strategically with the Cradle to Cradle design principles, Troldtekt makes the acoustic panels from FSC®-certified wood and cement. This ensures not only acoustic excellence, but also documented material health and a focus on reuse, recycling and upcycling. In this presentation, we will explore how Troldtekt panels are designed to make it easy for architects and building professionals to integrate acoustic, aesthetic and sustainability considerations in buildings. Troldtekt acoustic panels contribute to building certifications like DGNB, LEED, BREEAM and WELL. We will also discuss recent innovations, such as panels based on FUTURECEM cement, which reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 38% compared to the Troldtekt panels based on traditional cement. By integrating acoustic comfort with circular design principles, Troldtekt solutions demonstrate that healthy indoor climates and aesthetically pleasing spaces can be achieved with a simple recipe.
