Abstract: Commercial microphone array hard- and software solutions are often expensive and out of reach for many researchers, engineers and students interested in acoustics and IoT applications. This talk highlights the use of the open-source Acoular framework in conjunction with an off-the-shelf 16-channel MEMS microphone array with integrated USB audio interface as a cost-effective alternative for microphone array data acquisition and analysis. This presentation will give a brief overview over Acoular's capabilities on acquiring and streaming acoustic data coming from standard audio interfaces. Later on, it will focus on processing multi-channel signals from the MEMS microphone array by applying spatial and frequency filtering techniques. Finally, integration of the Acoular framework with the visualization library Bokeh through the SpectAcoular extension will be shown, enabling the creation of interactive and operating system independent client-server applications to stream and analyze microphone array data in real-time.
