Requirements for Environmental Noise Measurements

Abstract:
To ensure an appropriate and a high level of quality in the environmental noise measurements and reports, the Danish Ministry of Environment published a Statutory Order in the late 90ties, covering requirements for persons and for noise laboratories conducting environmental noise measurements and predictions. The Statutory Order monitored and conducted by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ensures that certified persons or accredited noise laboratories perform reliable measurements and predictions of environmental noise and vibrations to be used as input for the local authoritys decision making.The requirements comply with the EU legislation governing the recognition of professional experience and free movement of labour across borders.This paper presents the benefits of such a system from the authoritys point of view. It covers the experience with the certification process conducted by FORCE Technology from the application process, the monitoring and reporting activities to the renewal process.
