New sound system in the old walls of Speyer Cathedral

Abstract:
The cathedral, which is over 1000 years old, had a sound system that was over 40 years old in parts. The speech intelligibility was very poor. A new sound system was therefore necessary. The challenge here is the very long reverberation time and the desire for very high speech intelligibility. The large number of possible scenarios with very simple and intuitive operation did not make implementation any easier.This presentation describes the challenges and the concrete way to realise the new sound system. The implementation has been completed and the results can be shown in the presentation.
