Flow-induced sound simulation of a Mach 0.3/0.6 mixing layer

Abstract: Starting from previous investigations regarding the mixing layer sound, we found that the formulation based on the Pierce operator (AWE-PO) misses some source interactions. Therefore, we will propose a similar aeroacoustic equation (cPCWE) that is capable of predicting mixing layer sound accurately using the same operator but with a consistent source formulation. The findings are validated by the results of a direct simulation of the mixing layer problem.
