Abstract:
The prediction of airborne noise emissions from rail traffic is clearly regulated in Germany by the 16th Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act (16th BImSchV) and the Schall 03 guideline. In contrast, there is currently no legal or normative regulation for the prediction of vibration emissions. The draft standard DIN 45672-3, published in February 2023, introduces a prediction method based on third-octave band spectra. This draft aims to fill the existing gap in standard-compliant prediction and evaluation of vibration emissions from rail traffic. This presentation will introduce the prediction method of the DIN draft standard and provide initial insights from its application in practical scenarios.
