Abstract:

Due to the growing electrification of motor vehicles in Europe, tire-road noise is increasingly coming into focus due to the lack of masking. Efforts are already being made to develop a test procedure for real drive noise emissions that not only covers a small part of the load cases of real road traffic through measurements on ISO test tracks, but also better captures the different operating conditions and influencing parameters of the vehicle, the tires and the road surface. These correlations have hardly been recorded in real road traffic to date. One of the main objectives of the mFUND project “Tyre Road Noise”, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), is to use a data-based approach to develop an estimation method for pass-by noise that can be used as independently as possible of the given boundary conditions. For this purpose, sensor data is collected by sound intensity probes close to the wheel and microphones inside the tire, as well as general information on road, tire and environmental parameters. This publication will present the measurement setup of the test vehicle, the results of initial test runs and the progress made in setting up the estimation procedure.
